Mason Jeffries collected three hits in three at bats, as New Castle Middle School Trojans 7th Grade defeated Rushville Middle School 7th Grade 19-4 on Wednesday. Jeffries doubled in the first inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning. New Castle won thanks to 13 runs in the first inning. Hudson White singled, scoring one run, Kobe Lee drew a walk, scoring one run, Jeffries doubled, scoring two runs, Cooper Penrose drew a walk, scoring one run, Levi Huckeby doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Carter Silvers singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Jeffries singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run. A ground out by Peyton Happe extended the New Castle Middle School Trojans 7th Grade lead to 14-1 in the top of the second inning. New Castle scored five runs on six hits in the top of the third inning. Gavin Hurt singled, scoring one run, Jeffries singled, scoring two runs, Penrose singled, scoring one run, and Rankin induced Kohen Michael to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored. Chase Morrow added a hit late in the game. Penrose stepped on the bump first for New Castle. The hurler allowed zero hits and one run over two innings, striking out four and walking four. Hurt appeared in relief for New Castle for an inning, striking out 2 and only allowing 1 hit. New Castle had solid catching behind the dish by Blake Walters and Jeffries. Walters is 2 for 2 in stolen base attempted put outs at second. New Castle Middle School Trojans 7th Grade accumulated 12 hits in the game. Silvers collected two hits for New Castle Middle School Trojans 7th Grade in three at bats. Lee and Jeffries each stole multiple bases for New Castle Middle.
