A perfect, end-of-summer evening brought about some beautiful tennis. However, the Trojans just could not overcome the Mt. Vernon Maurauders. The NCMS boys' varsity tennis team lost 1-4, with seventh-grader Collin Mahoney outlasting his seventh grade opponent, Leland Osterling, in a three-set, evenly matched thriller (4-3 [7-3], 2-4, [11-9]). The NCMS boys' JV tennis team fell just short, losing 2-3. Eight-grader Levi DeCrastos did not let up on his challenger, eight-grader Rayne Archi, shutting him out to win 4-0. Eighth grade doubles team Henry Lansinger and Sullivan Row won their second match together, beating seventh-grader Owen Eads and eighth-grader Ben Wilson (4-3 [6-3]). In exhibition play, the doubles team of Korbyn Guffey (sixth grade) and LeviDeCrastos beat their opponents 4-2, and the doubles team of Gavin Brown (sixth grade) and Kooper Neal (seventh grade) won 4-1.
